I mourn as equally as everyone else in the world does for the terrible shit that happened in Paris recently however the reality is that terrible shit happens everywhere, all of the time, in many places you don’t often hear about. Violence is a difficult thing to accept and live with but try to be grateful for the life you’ve been given and strive to do something good with it.

When 9/11 happened it was close to home, literally, I live in fucking NY! With a mother and father who work in Manhattan, I was struck with terror when I heard the news. My father even helped clean up 9/11. All day, every day, as the news featured “terror alerts” and spoke about the attacks, I was left petrified to even leave the house. School was a nightmare and I cried coming home from school for a good 2-3 weeks because it was all anyone would ever talk about. Terrorism sucks not only because of the bombs and guns and lives lost but because it scares people to even live their lives, the lives they should be grateful for and happy to have. Even the joy of life for those who still HAVE THEIR LIFE is taken away by terrorism. I refuse to live a life of fear.
